The Apostle Paul passed through Perga on his way to Antioch of Pisidia in the middle of his First Missionary Journey, and returned for a longer visit near the end of the same journey (see Acts 13:13 and 14:24-25). Turkish archaeologists have been excavating Perga since 1946.
