Thomas Olbricht (1938- ) got his S.T.B. with a focus on church history from Harvard Divinity School, his M.A. in speech communication from the University of Iowa, and his Ph.D. in rhetoric and early church history, also from the University of Iowa. He is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Religion, Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA.
Olbricht has published extensively in Biblical theology, rhetoric and church history. He has been a minister in the Churches of Christ for almost 50 years, serving as an elder for the past 20. For nearly 45 years he has taught or administered at the University of Iowa, Harding University, the University of Dubuque, Pennsylvania State University, and Pepperdine University, teaching more than two thousand students who have gone on to become ministers, missionaries, or university professors. He and his wife Dorothy live in retirement in South Berwick, Maine. They have 5 children and 12 grandchildren.
